Probably... Again.

<< Previous Story

Some thought she has given up on her search for that pair of happy eyes. Nope. Probably never.

I have been closely observing her. How she glows with just a mention of the word "soul mate". It's kind of funny sometimes watching her grin and smile as if it's real and exciting.

She has even written it on her blog. I have written it on my blog.

She continues her search and her wishes remained. And so my wish for them remained the same: I wish they'd find each other again and I wish they would have that same surprised and happy look in their eyes. And I wish they will never say goodbye without really knowing each other.

Question remains the same: Will they see each other again?

Even myself is in doubt of the possibilities now. You see, she's leaving today. Last night was her going-away party. She gathered her friends who have no idea that she's leaving the country the next day.

"Please take your seat, I have something to tell you,"
she asked her friends last night. They were all clueless. She has never done this before. I mean, tell her friends something really important. They all took their seats and waited for her next words.

"I am getting married," she said.

And all the shocking words came out from every corner of the restaurant. Her friends could be hilarious when in shock. They could give you every funny reactions and witty comments at times.

She's going to miss them and yes, she will be missed.

"I am kidding. Who should I marry? You know I never had anyone in 2 years." She's laughing hard seeing her friends' reactions.

"The truth is, I am leaving for the states tomorrow." She said casually showing them a ticket for a 10PM flight as if it is not a shocking news. She said it as if flying was her usual thing. The truth is, she has never been to anywhere via a plane-ride.

After she has explained everything-- why she's leaving and how she was able to secure a visa, etc., the night went well. Farewells were said between laughter and some silence (I guess her friends were still pretty shocked but they did well in keeping it). The stars seemed to side on her now. Well, except for that one wish that we have for her... her soul mate.

After a few months of wishing that she'd find him again, she's leaving. And that is, by the way, why I said even myself is in doubt of the possibilities that they'd see each other again. What if he comes back and she's no longer here? What if he's really looking for her and he decided to do the search here? What if..?!

If only I could stop her from leaving. If only I know what's really going to happen. If only...

And she's leaving. Back to where her story has started. Sunday, around 9PM at the Centennial Airport. She's alone this time. She didn't want anyone to drive her off to the airport. No family. No friends. She's always wished it that way. For her, life should remain the same for every one else and that her departure should never be a big deal to anyone-- but her.

I know she's both excited and nervous. I have been watching her since she took the cab-ride a few hours ago. She's well informed on what to do first, where to go, and what to do next. Now she's just sitting. Waiting for the final call for her flight.

Then she felt it-- a headache. She was so busy the whole day double checking her luggage that she forgot to have lunch. Not even a light snack. And now her body is asking for it. Too late to grab something to eat tho' because the next thing she knew was that she had to grab her self and walk inside and get on the plane. Her eyes almost half-open because of the excruciating pain in her head. She didn't even hear the stewardess wishing her well. She won't probably remember the fun of being on your first plane-ride. Poor girl. I wish I could make her re-live it someday (minus the headache).

She asked for a bottled water and she took her pill (it could make her groggy and sleepy in a few minutes). Her eyes were half-open because of the pain.

"Are you alright?" a stranger's voice came from her left side. It was from a guy seated by the window.

"I am sorry. I am not okay. This is my first plane-ride. I have a killer headache and I am not sitting by the window," she said almost crying. "I'm sorry. Was I rude? I have always wished to be seated by the window on my first plane-ride and I never wished for this headache." she continued without thinking that she could be talking non-sense already. She couldn't concentrate because of the headache but the pill seemed to be working now. She covered her face with a pillow and started yawning.

"Don't cry. We could exchange seats. It's okay with me. You could take my seat." The stranger, who tried so hard not to laugh, offered her. He stood up tried to guide her to her new seat by the window. She's groggy but she's happy now that she got her dream-seat-- by the window.

"Thank you," she said grinning, eyes still half-open.

The guy took his laptop out and turned it on. He opened an email.

"Do they have WiFi here? Are we allowed to go online here?" she asked in between her yawns.

"No, this is a message that I got from my friend a few minutes before we took off." He explained not actually paying attention to her. He seemed to be into something, he was reading the message on his laptop intently.

She had a glimpse of it. Probably Never. The subject of the email says.

"Shit! This isn't happening," she told her self. She was trying to fight the pill's effect now. She tried to calm down and tried to act as if she's awake (but she's already half-asleep, mind you).

"Uhh... what's that message about? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to look but...", she tried to explain but the guy cut her by mid-sentence.

"Oh! It's alright. Let's see, how would I explain this to a half-awake person... uhmmm... " he's laughing again but he continued when he saw her waiting for his story.

"You see, it could be her. The reason why I went back to the Philippines," he patiently explained.

"Her? Who?" she asked with a yawn.

"The author of this message." He simply said.

"OMG. I have to read the rest of that email. Was it my article? Or they just have the same title?" she's talking to herself again.

"My friend sent me this email but it was too late. I know this would sound pathetic. They knew why I came back and they tried to help me but they just found out today about this girl's blog entry. It's because of this one scene from the airport a few months ago and I saw this girl, I can't remember how she really look like but I will never forget that moment when our eyes have met... Ok. I' m sorry I am talking too much. I am like this when I talk about something that's really interesting.. well, at least interesting for me. I'm sorry, I must be boring you. You sleeping already?" he said laughing.

He caught her yawning again. She's really trying hard to stay awake. I should have warned her to take a no-drowse effect pill. Poor girl.

"Do you know where she is now? Did your friend send you her blog entry for today too?" she managed to asked. Finally, she's making sense. She knew it was her blog entry that he's reading.

"No. Was there another one? Did she find her soul mate? Then it wasn't her... er... it wasn't me." he lets out a sigh.

"Here," she handed him a hard-bound book with one loose sleeve with a note dated today and some notes. It could be her blog entry today.

"It's the title of her blog. Are you a fan of her? Why do you have this? I didn't know it's from a book, too." he asked. Now he's really looking at her.

"I am not a fan. I know everything about her more than what's written there. But I am not a fan. I just didn't have a choice. I cannot escape her because I am..." she stopped, took a deep breath, yawned and continued, "... her, actually."

She covered her face with a pillow and waited for the stranger to speak up.

Then she tried to open her eyes but couldn't. She realized she fell asleep. The sun is shining so brightly on her face. She couldn't really open her eyes because of the blinding light coming from the window. Was she dreaming? Or has she lost him again? She touched her forehead. The headache is gone. Then she turned to her right and there she saw the truth. What's real.

She is inside her room in Makati City.

Ahhh... her soul mate could probably be somewhere near now.

I wish.
