[Red Corner] A Groundhog in Me
Wednesday, 12 November 2008

I feel like a groundhog munching all the time in preparation for the winter. Our only difference, in terms of our eating habit that is, they stop eating during winter time-- they hibernate, and I don't. I won't. I shouldn't. *argghh*  Lucky for these mammals, they don't need to think about how they'd burn all the fats that they've taken in (while some people would take Fenphedra). The fat keeps them alive while they're in hibernation. And while they're asleep, according to some articles that I have read:

They only breathe every six minutes. Their body will decrease in temperature from 100 degrees to 38 degrees Fahrenheit. Their heart and other organs will shut down. They will curl up in a tight ball and sleep.

Wow! That's how much interest I have with these mammals! I miss their site from our backyard already.

Groundhogs eat significant amount of food in the fall but lately, I haven't seen one munching outside. Probably they're all deep down the ground now as the days grow colder each day (I have yet to see these mammal's burrow which contains several chambers. I believe there's one entrance in our backyard. *wink*). Or maybe they went some place where they could eat more food as our cherry and green apple trees have dried up already (read: hibernating).

As for me, I had the courage to step on the weighing scale again after 3 weeks (since the last time I weighed myself). My friends kept on commenting that I already have bulging cheeks. Looking at my current photos, I agreed with them. And as if knowing how much I weigh now would inspire me to watch "how" I eat, huh? Nope. Because just right after I saw the numbers, I joined the fam on a movie trip down the basement over some slices of pizza, chicken wings with blue cheese, pop corn, raisin breads and soda. I hate to say this but I didn't feel happy learning about how much I have gained over the past month and then, lo and behold, I have found comfort in food. *burppp*
