| Fat Santa. |

When you leave for the U.S., people would expect two aspects of your life to be "fat". One, your wallet; and two, your ass (and that goes with the rest of your body). The first one, that's given when a dollar is to forty-seven or forty-eight pesos. Now, that's a fat wallet when you go back to the Philippines with your hard-earned dollars. But let us not forget, here in the U.S., people earn dollar and people spend dollar. A Balikbayan person should never be thought of as a Santa, giving away gifts and money. One may look like one though if he/she does not watch his/her health (that's why diet pills are common here, I think). But I, on the other hand, will never blame it on the "American" food nor the way people eat here. I have a huge appetite ever since I can remember. Maybe bigger appetite than the one I have here. I never watched the quantity of food that I take. But then, you'll never know because my built was okay, until you see me pig-out on food, because when I was in the Philippines I have my ways to burn all the extra calories that I have taken in. I go to the gym and sauna, I play a sport, and I walk a lot. Here, it's none of the above. But I am not losing hope. My physical activities as well as my social life will be back once I am settled here (although "here" is still questionable). One step at a time. I will get there. I am way too far from my ideal weight now. I was 118.5lbs the last time I stepped on the scale and like my friend, RSB, my thighs are touching each other now. Ouch! I want to play Santa, but a fat one? Not really. Ugh! |
