Willy-Nilly: What's Keeping Me.
Friday, 08 May 2009

It's been raining here for the past few weeks. They say that when it rains, it pours. It does, only with blessings and some droplets of fun.

There were quite a few activities for me in the past two weeks since I stopped working on some IT stuff.

Two weeks ago, my friend, Franco, had lots of idea on how he'd spend his off from work. There was the Six Flag, the Broadway show in Manhattan, and some movies to watch. We two, ended up attending to an Annual Nursing Symposium at Kean University on April 25.

The whole-day affair, which started around 8am and ended around 3 in the afternoon was fun. It was all-talk but surprisingly, I wasn't bored. There were lots of jargon since it's all nursing stuff, but these were explained to me in layman's terms.

Learning is fun.

I got to meet Franco's good friend, Ada and discovered that he (Franco) is a nerd. That was a joke. Two Filipinos got an Academic Excellence Award that day. He was the other one. Uhh.. nerd?! LOL! My bad. Instead of congratulating him, I ended up teasing him! Naahh.. it's a good one.

After the symposium, we watched the Fast and the Furious 4 at the nearest Loews Theater and grabbed something to eat at McDonald's.

The next couple of days after that were as much fun too, at least, for me, who loves the smell of grass and wet soil. The weather permitted me and my SIL to go outside and do some gardening. I was able to drive the lawn mower truck again (I missed that!!). I got a blister from the lawn sweeper but it's gone now.  I have also trimmed some bushes (hah! now I know how hard it is to create a form out of these evergreens!) and finally learned to use the edge-trimmer and found out that it is a fun task, too. Problem is, we only have two batteries and the lawn is as big as a campsite! *hehe*

Last Saturday, the 2nd of May, before I was dropped off at Babes Drive for Pacman's fight against Ricky Hatton, Franco and I, went to watch The Soloist and played some billiards (it's been years since I last played billiards. I suck at it then. I still suck at it now! Ugh!).

On Sunday, after the 9:30am mass, the family decided to visit Hershey Park in Pennsylvania for their tradition-- they have to have a photo taken there every year! A cool family tradition, if I may say.

Pennsylvania is an amazing state. Although I could imagine the movie, Children of the Corn, from the huge lawns and eerie houses and barns, I still think that the place is very interesting. I love the greens, hills, and mountains. I had the same feeling like when I first set foot in New Jersey or in New York. Overwhelming!

On the 6th of May (well, that was yesterday), I went to Kean University with Franco to pick up his toga. After which, he got us a complimentary 3-day guest pass at Life Time Fitness Center where we did some work-out for at least two hours (Sauna was heaven!).  We capped off the day with the movie Wolverine at Loews Theater in Route 1.

Just like in Hershey Park, I say, in life, we should create our own FUN. Never wait for someone to draw sunshine on your gloomy day. Rain or shine, life goes on and we have to move on with it, with a joyful heart.
