"Grandma, did you use any eye creams before?" "Ice cream?" "Eye cream, Grandma. For wrinkles." "Ohh..." "What's the best eye cream for wrinkles?" "I am trying to think..." After a few seconds... "So... what is it?" "I couldn't think. I am sleepy. It's hard to wake up." "Can't blame you, Grandma. Sometimes, waking up is a task." "Right. I'll be up in a minute, darling." After 5 minutes... "First I gotta get up and go back to bed." "Yes, that's right. It is one of our tasks." "I'll be up in a minute, darling. You don't have to wait for me." "We're both here. It's all right, take your time, Grandma." After a few more minutes... "Get up, get up! You can't stay here all day." "Go Grandma, motivate yourself." "Up and at' em!" "What did you say?" "Up and at 'em... my husband used to say that. Like he used to say, Speedy Gonzales." "Do you know who Speedy Gonzales is, Grandma?" "No." "He's the fastest mouse in Mexico!" "Hahaha! Really?! I didn't know that!" "There's a song, Speedy Gonzales, too." Then I started singing and humming the song for her-- Speedy Gonzales, why dontcha come home?-- Nope. She has no idea who Speedy Gonzales is, and she's probably thinking, what the heck are you whining about? Oh! I didn't realize you're singing. This is one of our typical conversations while she's sitting, by the way. In the bathroom. ![]() |
