I dove not into books yesterday but into food (not that it's risky to miss a day of reading, like missing a LSAT prep course). My itinerary for Tuesday doesn't include a visit to the public library but rather hearing the 12:10pm mass at St. Mary's and going to Stamford to window shop for my winter coat, go to Michael's (the arts and crafts store), and have dinner with Joy. I was at the train station a little past 1pm (my 20-minute walk from the church to the train station was fine, cold temperature was tolerable) only to find out that the next train going to Stamford will be around 3pm. Ugh! There's nowhere to go but have a long lunch, err.. brunch, since I did not have my breakfast. It was my chance to try one of the cafes near the train station. And because it's off peak and a weekday, I was the only customer they had for 2 hours. Hah! I loved the attention I got from the waitress, mind you! But boy, was I stuffed! A huge glass of orange juice? Gone in less than 3 minutes! I did not know I was that thirsty. A foot-long Philadelphia Cheese Steak sandwich? No problem. Bring it on with fries and a piece of pickle. On my last few bites of the sandwich, I had to ask for a cup of hot tea. It was still early when the waitress took my empty plate from my table. I asked her if they have a menu for dessert. She said all they have is a brownie topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. I hesitated. I am not so wild about brownies. "It's good!" the waitress said with a devilish smile (or was that my imagination?). I gave in, easily. She didn't have to ask me how the brownie was because it was gone when she returned for my second refill of hot water for my hot tea (she should have left the pot of hot water on my table, I think she went back for me five times for that). I couldn't breathe when I left the cafe. I was stuffed. But thank God, I had some 3 miles to walk in Stamford. Then again, the walk was not enough. Joy brought me to King's Buffet for dinner (if I knew about it beforehand, I should have skipped dessert during brunch *hehe*). What was supposed to be an eat-all-you-can became more of a drink-all-hot-tea-that-you-can for me. Either that or the food that I had all day, has kept me awake until past 2 in the morning. Argh! And I was up at a little past five, hungry. *** I know I haven't been blogging for a while. Busy as usual. ![]() |
