"In New York, people think nobody cares anymore. But look at that lady. She's just waiting for her train ride and she did what she can to help the man..." says a black lady sitting next to me at the NY Pennsylvania station last Thursday, when a man had a seizure. Just a few weeks ago, a grandma at the NY Presbyterian Hospital said the opposite of those words. Do we lose hope as we grow older? Should we cease believing that no matter how bad a place is, good people still exist? The world may be in chaos, but my answer is No. It is not where we are; it is who we are wherever we are. |
