My First Holy Week Away from Home
Saturday, 11 April 2009

I'm sure I'll get a lot of scolding if my mom or my lola (Rest in peace, May) would learn how I spent Holy Week here, particularly Holy Thursday and Good Friday.

Back in the Philippines, where I have spent 30 years of my life, I would usually spend the Holy Week in Pangasinan. I'd usually hear mass every day (usually Thursday to Easter Sunday). I remember wishing that someday I'd spend my Holy Week away from home. This year, it happened. I am away from home-- so very far from home.

I spent Thursday working on the screen shot for WDI's brochure while waiting for a feedback on our web host regarding MySQL's version. Thursday night, we had a fun meet/dinner at some Thai restaurant in Edison, NJ before I was dropped off to my base camp.

Thanks for dinner Kuya Rey and Ate Shirley.
Thanks for the pasalubong from Daranga, Albay (Philippines), Lolo Thor
and yey! for letting me take some shots using the Nikon!

Good Friday, literally speaking, was really good. It was a fun trip to Manhattan (decided to see The Empire State Building). Although FJ and I were able to visit St. Patrick's Cathedral where a mass was being held, we weren't able to really start or hear the final blessing because we had to walk back to the 32nd St. (church is at the 50th) to catch our train ride home from New York to New Jersey.

(note: photo op is better in the Observatory (86th floor) than at the 102nd.
but when you're there, don't miss the 102nd! Kingkong is waiting! hehe)

Easter Sunday, I'm glad that I am hearing mass with the fam. It'll be my first time to witness Easter Egg Hunt around here. Then I am off to Manhattan to catch my bus ride to Staten Island again, stop staring at a tv stand and go back to work.

Happy Easter, everyone!
