Irene is trending.

"Irene is a very dangerous storm and should be taken seriously..."

That's what the reports are saying. This morning it hit North Carolina. And since everyone acted before it even touched the ground, there's only two reported deaths. We can't help the damages on buildings and roads but we should be grateful for the lives that were spared.

It is Saturday. My SIL asked me if I can go to NJ to keep my nieces a company while they are at work. Sad to say, there's no way that I can get there. All the public transportation have shutdown. I am not even sure if I am safe right now. The way media is reporting, the hurricane should be something to be scared of. (Be afraid. Really afraid.) But I am not. I love it when it rains. And there's this feeling of security within. In fact, I am working, doing what I usually do on weekends (I cook, I write, I try to make another card). But I guess we are ready.

C has been charging all the batteries since last night, even the laptop (where can I find cheap laptop batteries, anyway?). And just in case there is a power shutdown, too, I have cooked enough barley and quinoa. Wait, we run on gas, right? Anyways, I am making lemon tea with mint, too. And I am supposed to cook Spiced Salmon Stir-Fry today but realized that it should be marinated overnight. So I guess, we'll just have salmon and pesto (the pesto was given by Uncle M, and we have a lot of it, thanks to him). I am steaming green beans, too. They're sweet and could be eaten cold (dip it on some sweet-hot chili sauce, and they're yummy!).

Public transportation will start operating again, tentatively, on Monday. That is sad. That means, C and I will miss hearing mass this weekend. I will know, probably, tomorrow night, if I should come in to work on Monday. That is, if it is possible for me to travel. Oh well... just keep yourselves posted on my Twitter (http://twitter.com/maenggay).

Stay safe, everyone.
