Sometimes I have this attitude: either I snooze my alarm or turn it off then back to sleep hoping I would just snooze for five minutes. I've set my alarm on last night at 5am. I need to be on the road before 7 today. I had to meet Cheng and 'ta Nel at the NBC Tent (The Fort) at 7am for the Pinay In Action All Women's Run. I remember my alarm went off at exactly 5am... and I remember pressing a button. The next thing I remember was waking up with the sun already up and the clock says 6:15am. *argghh* Now that is why my alter-ego was pushing me to prepare my stuff for today's event before I hit the sack last night-- and I did not listen. It would usually take me 2 hours to prepare. I wanted to dry my hair and I wanted to perm it a little (addicted to it now!) but then I had to rush. I wanted to wear a pair of shorts (I was expecting a 5KM-run, it's not going to be comfortable wearing a pair if jogging pants-- I am running, not just jogging, at least that was my plan) but then I couldn't find a pair of shorts for running (badminton shorts, badminton skorts [skirt/shorts], and a pair of white biking shorts were all I have). I ended up with my pair of old jogging pants. I wanted to wear one of my dri-fit shirts but the color-combination of my dri-fit shirts and my jogging pants would shout BADUY(!) in all-caps. Thank goodness I still have a white shirt left in my closet. I wasn't sure if a locker will be provided for us but it's good that 'ta Nel will be bringing her car. She said we could leave our stuff there just in case there are no lockers. So I took everything that I needed and took off 20 past 7am, hailed a cab, and confirmed my attendance to Cheng, who's with ta Nel at the NBC tent already. I re-read the message from last night and I was relieved when the message says it's going to be a 1.5km-run (I was so tired, I guess I missed the "1." there). *phew* I am glad it's just 1.5km. One, I haven't done any kind of exercise for the last month (no stretching, no badminton)-- I had a bad experience in leg cramps and I don't want to go through that ever again. And two, I am wearing a pair of jogging pants. It's actually 1.6km. The 1.6km run would start at 7:30am. I was still on the road at that time. We saw some people running already and when we came to an intersection, a guy asked the cab driver to take a halt, for what seemed like forever. Runners were crossing (some were jogging, some were brisk-walking, some were just normally walking). We were the only vehicle in that intersection. "Are you going to wait for the last person running before you let us pass through?", I rolled down the window and asked the guy. Patience has left me and it ran 200kph. The driver was shocked. I have made my point. The guy made the runners stop. We were able to pass through. I made it just on time for the 1.6km run. It was a fun run. So much fun than I expected. The three of us were laughing all the time. We just jogged, brisk-walked, and walked for about 13 minutes. Then we went inside the NBC Tent to check on the stalls. Foods, accessories, clothings, and a lot more were on sale. 'Ta Nel bought us a Php20-worth red bag for our freebies (a big Downy fabric softener, a big Ariel laundry powder, and 2 pieces of Whisper feminine napkin). I love the red bag. Breakfast was courtesy of 'Ta Ching at the Valle Verde Clubhouse. The three sisters ('Ta Ching, 'Ta Nikki, 'Ta Gigi) were already settled and having juice and coffee when we got there. We ordered Filipino Style breakfast plus a platter of fruits. I had Danggitsilog (fried rice, crispy fish, and egg), coffee, and juice. 'Ta Ching ordered some toasted bread and butter after that, which I also tried. Although there's nothing special about the food that they served us (food was fine), the service was great and the company I was with was really fun. Non-stop talking and laughing over breakfast. 'Ta Nel and 'Ta Nikki, after 35 years, finally got the chance to see each other again and catch up. They were classmates in high school. They promised that they would tag, the rest of us, along when they get-together again. LOL! Finally, reunited. We left the place before 12noon and headed home. Home to my apartment here in Makati--- where another unexpected thing happened (again) -- the lock on my bedroom's door was jammed again and there was no one home. Not even Zoey, the dog. I saw what the carpenter did the last time. Question was, can I do it? Can I remove the glass jalousies from the window and climb up there just to get inside my room? Other than calling the caretaker and waiting for the carpenter again to do the same thing that he did last time, I had no choice. If I can do it, why wait, right? Besides, I was really tired and my original plan was to get some more sleep once I arrive home. So I stepped on a table and one by one I tried to remove the glass jalousies. Climbed and jumped off my window and got inside my room without a bruise. That was fun actually. I never imagined myself doing that! LOL! The hard part was putting back the glass jalousies-- you have to find the right way to slide them one by one to their frames and you should be careful not to break any. It's a glass on hard metal. It took me a while to put them back. Even thought of giving up when I was on the last 2 pieces. I kept telling myself: "This is just like Lego bricks... you can do it. This is just like Lego bricks." I made it. I was a Pinay in action today. ******* Materials for Toto's Seafood Grill, ATBP has arrived today. Gotta squeeze some creative juice really soon. Plus the tindero just emailed me. Yey! |
