Though it may sound odd, I am really in need of singles, and they are for my bus fares. And dimes and some penny, too. "You want all of your change in singles?!" the guy at the counter in Walgreens asked. I bought a pack of mint to change my $20-bill. "Yes, please. And I need some penny and some dimes, too." I replied as he was counting my change. "There you go, you got all of my singles now," he was laughing. And he was kind enough to open a pack of his dimes to change a dollar. He was right, I took all of his singles. I emptied his cash registrar. "Are you Chinese or Filipino?" he asked as he gave me the dimes. "Filipino," I said with a gracious smile. "I like Filipino woman," he said. "Uhh.. I am Chinese," I kidded around. "Hey! Take those coins from that," he was laughing as he pointed his finger to a machine with a quarter, some dimes, and some penny. One doesn't need to be an Einstein to figure out that I am a commuter. I always have my back pack. "Why? A tip for me? Wow. Thank you!" I said as I reached out for my tip. "It's yours. Go and have a nice day," he said, still laughing. He had to attend to the next customer in line. It was a good morning. I am happy that my wallet is full of single bills again. Uhh... Do you know where I could get some 1-dollar coins aside from the NJ Transit ticket machine? I like coins better. Yep! Singles, please!  |
