| Grandma was high! |

My fault. I must have fed her too much dark chocolates for dessert today. She's so funny, I couldn't help but laugh with her. It's good that no one is home except for the three of us, girls-- me, Grandma, and Sheba. We were so noisy (except for Sheba who might have thought that Grandma and I, were going crazy). They took Sarah to a Broadway Show in New York City. She's turning seven on Monday. She's kind of having a 3-day celebration and it has officially started today. Sunday will be her party with the whole family. Heard that she's excited about the musicale, Shrek.I was expecting Shreejana around 12noon. Miss M said she'll be here to relieve me. After breakfast, I gave Grandma her crossword puzzles. She fell asleep while doing it. She was on her chair. At 11am, she woke up and decided to go to the bathroom. We stayed there for about an hour I think. Before Chel left, she asked me if I wanted to have a break but I told her I was all right. I was waiting for Shreejana, I said. My plan was, once she arrives, I could run down to the kitchen and prepare Grandma's lunch. So we waited. While waiting, Grandma fell asleep. But a quarter before 2pm, there was no Shreejana. I decided to bring Grandma down to the kitchen so we can both have a decent lunch. Sheba was following us all the time. I guess she doesn't want to be left alone. huh? While we're having lunch, someone came with some pretty flowers for Grandma. It came from Miss M's students. Grandma was pleased. "Grandma, do you remember the name of the girl who gave you the flower?" "Oh my..." "It's Claudia." "Good thing you remember. M will wonder from whom the flowers were from." We were back in the bedroom at 3pm. All safe and giddy. "I don't know why I am excited but I am." "Enough with the caffeine and sweets, Grandma. I won't give you any more of those dark chocolates." "Has anyone tried to take a bite on you?" "Oh, no...." I was wearing my shirt that says, Property of Hershey's Chocolate with a large piece of Kisses in front. "I didn't know Hershey owns you." She wandered her eyes around the room and she started talking to herself. She was still seated on her wheel chair. She always take her time and I believe she should. I don't want her to get tired or dizzy from moving too much or too soon. "If only I could get up so I can get down. Haha! That's funny. If only I could get up so I can get down... to bed. That'll be nice." "Come on, Ma, get up! You can't sit here all day. You might fall asleep on this chair, which is okay. Then I'll wake up the next day." "I am trying to decide, should I go the bathroom first or straight to bed... If only I could get up so I can get down.." That's all her, talking to herself. "Do you talk to yourself, too?" "Sometimes." "Right, that way you won't have any argument." "But you talk a lot to yourself, Grandma." "Yup! No argument." When she looked at the window and saw the trees swaying and the sun's glare, she started singing, Summertime! "Summertime and the livin' is easy... Fish are bitin' and there's somethin', somethin'" she thought for a while, "... ooh! I forgot what's next." Since I did my homework, I was able to help her fill in some words. Then she sings again. Then we sang together. "Summertime and the livin' is easy... Fish are bitin'... Oh your daddys rich and your ma is good lookin', So hush little baby, dont you cry.." "You didn't know I was good in singing, did you?" she asked. "Cheers, Grandma! Let's drink some more!" In case you're wondering about the song, it was from a classic opera, Porgy and Bess. Here's a YouTube video for that certain song and the correct lyrics below: Summertime
(George and Ira Gershwin / Dubose Heyward) Summertime and the livin' is easy Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is fine Oh your daddy's rich and your ma is good lookin' So hush little baby, don't you cry One of these mornings You're goin' to rise up singing Then you'll spread your wings And youll take the sky But till that morning Theres a nothin can harm you With daddy and mammy standin by Well, it's almost five. Grandma's still up reading the papers while Sheba's knocked down beside her. Sheba's probably saying, "Peace, finally." |
