I have set my alarm last night. I should be up by 5:30am. I should be done with my usual morning prayer, detoxification, and exercises by 6am. I should be done preparing for work at 7am, have my breakfast and leave the apartment at 7:15am. I have to allot at least an hour travel to work especially now that classes in all schools have already started. I have to be in the office at 8:30am. This morning I woke up at 6:30am. My alarm clock has failed me or if I may say, I have failed its purpose. I wasn't able to do my morning detox and exercises but made sure I said my morning prayer and my day's petition: "Lord, please don't make me late for work. Let me not be disappointed." I was waiting for my bus-ride at 7:30am and it was harder than I thought. It's Monday and everyone is in a rush. Every bus that comes along is either full or.. well, FULL! Some won't even stop even if they already saw you from a distance, hailing at them. I am used to standing at the bus' estribo (doorstep) but I don't think there's even a space for me today so I decided to walk 2 blocks hoping they'd drop someone off and I could squeeze myself in. But to no avail. Sweat is dripping down on every part of my body that I felt like I was working out. "Dear Lord, please send me a ride that will bring me to the office on time..." It was 7:50am when I was able to hop on a bus. It was another block that I was able to transfer from the estribo to a seat at the back of the bus. I was in Ortigas at 8:15am. For ordinary commuters like me who travel along EDSA every working day, it is a miracle that I was able to get that fast from Makati to Ortigas. But two angels have made that possible for me: the conductor and the bus driver. They never stayed long in every loading zone in Ayala nor in EDSA (Guadalupe could be the worst part, next would be Crossing/Shaw). God bless those two angels. I even had the time to visit EDSA Shrine/chapel. Knelt down, said a little prayer and of course another petition for the day. I will never run out of it. At exactly 8:30am, I was writing my name down on the guard's log book. It was a miracle I really got there on time. Who says only prayers that are a matter of life and death, or only those prayers which will change your life forever get answered, eh? I could give you a long list here if I want to. For now, shallow as it is, with this simple answered prayer, let it be known how God has watched over me, brought me to work safe, sound and exactly on time. *wink* And Oh! I went home to a dry room even if it rained hard and with my windows left open. Sheesh! I was worried in the office that I swore never to open my windows again. The last time I forgot to close them and it rained hard, I went home to a wet and muddy futon. My screen on my window has fell down due to strong winds. [Note to self: Even tho' it is hot and humid, summer time is over. Never ever open your window again.] I believe prayers have saved my day today and I have but one Hero.
