Come and visit me.
Sunday, 20 September 2009

"I need to get up and start packing. H will be picking me up tonight. I am going home. You know it will be nice if you come and visit me some time. Will you come and visit me?"

That was Grandma, talking to me. She turned 94 on September 8.

Alzhemer's disease (AD), dementia, whatever you call it, however you describe it, for me it is just, simply, a sign of old age, a very old age at that. But in Grandma's case, I see it as nature's way of saying goodbye. Subtle and slowly.

I am standing at the center of a dandle board, and she is sitting on one end. When she's gone, will I fall?
