Bootcamp is slowing me down.
Friday, 09 January 2009

I have been working on the pages of Toto's Grill for a while. I have been removing all the < table > tags replacing them with < div > tags, and I have been updating my CSS file. I should be done this week but in reality, I still have some fifty and more pages left to modify. What has slowed me down? Bootcamp! No. Make that my laziness to use Bootcamp!

I need to make sure my pages will look good or at least all right on different internet browsers. Well, I mean, at least on the major ones such as the Microsoft's IE and Mozilla Firefox. GreenApple has a default browser-- Safari, so that's a bonus. Problem is, I don't have a Parallel Desktop for Mac (uhh.. in human language, that's running your Windows on Mac without rebooting). I downloaded a trial version and installed it only to realize that I haven't brought with me my own Windows installer. Geez!

GreenApple has a Bootcamp. It is a utility included in Mac OS, enabling it to have two partition (one for installing and running Windows OS on Mac). But there's one inconvenience, at least for someone who's lazy rebooting their system (that's me!), you read it right-- I have to reboot my system on Windows just to test my pages on IE! Come on! All I need is the IE browser and not the whole Windows!  And I'd rather cook than reboot GreenApple! Yup! Simply because I am lazy shutting down the many applications that's been up and running on my system. Using them or not, once I open an application, there's no closing them.

Obviously, whining won't solve any problem. So, this morning I finally took my lazy costume off and did what I should be doing-- Bootcamp! It was a relief that my pages are okay with Firefox, Safari, and IE (version 7 that is). Now I can go on with the rest of the pages. And yes, I am not rebooting for a long time again... at least until I am done with the rest of the website.

Talk about being productive, eh?
