Hmmm... my title sounds like "The Third World" (a name given to nations that are generally considered to be underdeveloped economically during the 20th century [Wikipedia]) Pyrolympics. Pushed myself to do some research and I am proud to announce that our beloved country, the Philippines, is not in the list (well, at least not in top 10 or 15 as of 2007). I'm not sure if we were included in the list before tho' and I don't think we're going to be included any time soon. Pinoy pa! Yeah... I kinda have that huge faith in us. What? With all the malls blossoming like wild flowers in the road? The unending road constructions and all! I don't think so. Even if the news would tell me that we're running low on NFA rice. I still would not think so.
Anyway, thanks for reminding me, it's almost May and the lovely fireworks will be seen again at the Esplanade, behind the 3rd largest mall in Asia, which is none other than the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) in Pasay City.
The First World Pyrolympics was held in December 2005. Since then, it's something that we are looking forward to every year. And this year, altho' later compared to the past years, it's coming in May. So, ready your cameras, tripod, and practice your night shots now. While this year, I will be that person in my shot above coz I haven't replaced my camera. I guess I'll busy myself munching on our baon. *teeheee!*
Although the dates have moved several times, I think the schedule is final now. I hope... coz the weather is getting erratic each day and that rainy season is coming so fast this year.
According to their official website, fireworks will start on May 3 and the succeeding Saturdays of May. Participating countries will be Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Venezuela, and of course, Philippines. Tickets are sold for: General admission: Php150, Special Viewing (without dinner): Php1000; and Special Viewing (with dinner): Php1500.
Minus the heavy traffic that the event will create along the area, I am sure it will be fun to watch it with the E!s... Let's choose a date now!
